Apologies for the radio silence of late, I’m still here I promise! I’m actually working on taking Remotely over to Substack and will be offering more frequent and additional content for paid subscribers in addition to the free monthly newsletter as usual. Think more everyday outfits, style inspiration, interiors ‘where did you get that’ and generally just more tips, links, ideas and musings. Given my entire self-employed career was once rooted in blogging, it feels very full circle to be going back to the medium albeit in a new guise. I’ve been getting so into Substacks myself lately and love it when my favourite subscriptions land in my inbox so I’m excited to join the party!

Red socks
I’ve long been a sock lover, and I’m not even talking sartorially; just the feel of a pair of new socks gives me a pathetic amount of joy. The feeling of putting on clean, dry socks after going on a wet, cold soggy walk is the height of luxury for me. In short, I love socks so bonus that they’re really having a moment right now. Red in general is the ‘it’ colour it seems this season and red socks seem like the easiest way in and the easiest way to make jeans, jumpers and loafers sing. I just bought two pairs from Colourful Standard and a cosy cashmere pair from Cos and have some red tights from Mango inspired by Gucci AW 23 that I’m ready to divide the nation or at the very least the neighbours with.

Actually red anything
Red is indeed everywhere right now and for me, a little goes a long way. A bag, a beanie, a red cashmere jumper slung over shoulders…it’s becoming my daily trope right now. I love red with pink too for something a bit more statement, next to dirty, powder blue (maybe this is why denim is so good with red) or bright, postbox red next to chocolate brown for ultimate earthy goodness. I saw this little red neckerchief from &Daughter the other day that is the cutest, simplest way to just add a pop of it. I’ve also loved red in my home too; red Feldspar dinner plates and my Alessi coffee percolator being two such examples of little snippets of red dotted around my kitchen.
