It wasn’t a conscious decision but we ended up staying entirely at hotels for this 3 week trip to Greece. A total luxury for sure but I do find it a lot easier when you’re moving around a bit - no last minute rush to buy breakfast supplies, confusion over lockbox codes or crap wifi and hotels can store your bags for you after check out which is really helpful for afternoon ferries. I love a great Airbnb but sometimes finding them for two people with outside space where you want to be is quite hard I find (my husband is 6ft 3 so those cute iron-framed antique beds are a deal-breaker too sadly). So we based ourselves at hotels for this trip and didn’t have a single dud stay the whole trip which felt like a big win. My second time staying here and I like the location a lot (right round the corner from our favourite restaurant Linou Soumpasis and Sia) plus the rooms are spacious and comfy. It has a great rooftop honesty bar too and most of the rooms (maybe all I’m not sure) have access to a terrace which is exactly what you want to step out onto when you first get to a hot and sticky euro city. I really like Shila too, Mona’s older sister, which has a softer, more bohemian vibe to it if you’re after something a little less industrial in a more residential neighbourhood. We stayed at Shila before our wedding in Greece and it was very dreamy.
From Athens, we headed to the small but mighty island of Kouffinisi and discovered one of my favourite stays in Greece
