Summer really is when I’m at my bookworm best. I find having the time (and attention span) to break the first 50-100 pages of a book in one sitting makes all the difference to how much I read, both in terms how much I read and how much I enjoy it. I’m making it sound very bleak but it’s actually full of heart. Chambers is one of those authors that can make houses and gardens feel like characters themselves which, growing up the likes of The Secret Garden, A Little Princess and later Jilly Cooper, I’m all for.
