A Cosy New Kitchen Zone
All the thoughts, feelings and details for the new dining space addition...
I love how once piece of furniture can transform a whole room and our new kitchen banquette has gone above and beyond in the transformation stakes. So I thought I’d get into this mini kitchen corner makeover and most-importantly, include all the links and details which are all at the bottom of this post.
I always felt like our kitchen dining area was missing something. It almost felt like the dining table and chairs was floating in an empty white space, cold and disconnected from the rest of the kitchen. You know I like my home to feel cosy and comforting and the dining area just wasn’t doing it for me. It needed softness, warmth and something to zone it all together. I didn’t want to put curtains on the French doors and didn’t really want a rug under the table so I slowly started to toy with the idea of a dining bench/banquette along the back wall. Weirdly I used to be very against banquettes as I always found the built-in wooden backed ones quite boxy and cumbersome. So I wanted something freestanding with legs that still felt quite elegant and not too heavy or bulky
Here’s what the space looked like before. Nice and I liked the outline of the dining chair backs against the wall, but it always felt a bit lacklustre to me.
